He was born September 29, 1933 in Galion, Ohio. After high school, he joined the Army serving in the Korean War. He was married to Virginia (Ginny) Jourdan for 63 years, who preceded him in death. Bob worked for Peabody Galion for many years before retiring from Eaton Corp in Spencer, Iowa. After retirement, he moved to Olathe, Kansas to be closer to his grandchildren.
Bob was an avid sports fan and would frequently call into radio shows to share his opinion. He enjoyed the Jayhawks, the Royals, the Chiefs and especially the Ohio State Buckeyes. After moving to Kansas City, Bob saw the lowly Royals win the World Series in 2015, the Chiefs win the Super Bowl in 2020 and the Kansas Jayhawks win the National Basketball Championship in 2008 and 2022. He was a collector of many things: sports cards, autographs, sports magazines, beer cans and bottles.
Bob and Ginny enjoyed going to breakfast every morning to LePeep or First Watch, where they considered the staff their extended family. Bob was a storyteller and always found someone to listen to him even complete strangers. He told stories of meeting Muhammad Ali, visiting Europe while in the Army and reliving the glory that is the Ohio State Buckeyes football program. Bob loved and cared for many dogs in his lifetime, from Heidi to Cork to Elvis, the snorer, to his last dog Casey that Bob leaves behind.
Bob leaves his daughter Beth (Rick) Dillon of Lenexa, KS, his grandchildren Jay (Anna) Dillon of Shawnee, KS, Jenna Dillon of Sherman Oaks, CA, and Jeff (Jennifer) Dillon of Lenexa, KS, his great-grandchildren Noah Heimes, Charlotte, Madeline, Thomas, Lucas and Logan Dillon.
