Robert Wesley Carver

Robert Wesley Carver, age 86, of Independence, MO, passed away on November 23, 2017. Visitation at 10AM on Friday, Dec. 1, at Grandview Community of Christ, 12600 Byars Rd, with memorial service at 11AM.

Robert was born Aug. 27, 1931 in Kansas City, MO, to Raymond & Virleen (Smith) Carver.

Robert graduated high school from William Chrisman in 1948, then he attended Graceland University. From 1952-1954, he served in the Army, reaching the rank of Corporal. He was stationed at the Pentagon.

Robert married Donna Stilwell in 1955, and they enjoyed 62 wonderful years together. He graduated from Denver University in 1956 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

Robert worked as a data processing manager at Western Electric KC/NY, followed by various other companies including: So-Fo Fabrics, Jackson County Data Processing Office, a Consulting firm, as well as being a private business owner and retiring from Sentinal Federal Savings in 1994. He also taught night division at Rockhurst College and Graceland University.

Robert served as an Elder at the Grandview Community of Christ, was a member of the Lunch Bunch, and played the saw & violin with the Ridge Runners.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Clifford.

He is survived by his wife Donna; children Susan Ward (Harry), Steve Carver (Julie), Scott Carver (Nicole), Shawn Carver (Shannon); grandchildren Jessica Cunningham (Josh), Jennifer Carver, Jaclyn Carver, Nicholas Carver, Matthew Carver, Grant Carver, Logan Carver; and great grandson Cooper Cunningham.
