Robert “Bob” E. Tait, 86, of Independence, MO passed away October 15, 2019. He was born on April 18, 1933 in St. Louis, MO to Robert P. and Lucille (Mueller) Tait. Bob was an engineer at AT&T for over 35 years. In 1953, he was drafted into the US Army where he served as a helicopter mechanic in the Korean War. In 1958, he married the love of his life, Jan and together they raised three children: Rob, Margo, and Becky. As a child, Bob enjoyed the Boy Scouts and as an adult, he became an honorary warrior in the Mic-O-Say Tribe. After retirement, Bob and Jan bought a house at the Lake of the Ozarks where they shared many great memories with their family. One of his favorite pastimes was going to the casinos with his wife and playing the slots. Bob had a calm and gentle spirit, but his wife could get a spark out of him. Bob was generous, kind, and never had an unkind word to say about anybody. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lucille Tait. His survivors include his wife, Jan Tait of the home; one son, Dr. Rob Tait (Faye) of Lee's Summit, MO; two daughters, Margo Conard of Independence, MO and Becky Workman of Independence, MO; one brother, Rowland Tait (Donna) of St. Louis, MO; seven grandchildren, Janea Robinson, Eric Conard, William Workman, Robert Tait Jr., Christopher Tait, Andrew Tait and Gloria Tait; nine great-grandchildren; and a plethora of stray cats in his backyard.
