This was taken on the day mom handed over her home to Rita.   
I have so many memories of Rita as a child.  Once I  wanted on the bus when my sister was going to kindergarten and ended up with Rita making pot holders.  
And as I grew older,  I remember passing my driver’s test and then going to her house to watch Elizabeth and Allen.  
And will always remember, as a mom, how I desperately needed a babysitter for the day, and how Rita and Johnny took care of my little boy on short notice.
I will especially miss our texting these past couple of years; me sharing my family with her and Rita sharing hers with me as well as her thoughts on life.  
You will all be in our thoughts and prayers in the days ahead.  🙏

I’m so blessed to have called Rita my Mother-in-Law these past 28+ years. I’ve never met anyone as kind, loving, and selfless as she was. She always made me feel like I was her son. She was also a very good cook. I will miss her pumpkin pies and Mexican Lasagna. ❤️

Mom made this outfit, from drawing out the pattern to sewing it all herself, while in college.  (Coral corduroy with lining of white with coral polka dots.) She was so proud! 

She made a lot of our clothes growing up. I’d have cute clothes (with fun colorful lining in my pockets😉) that were unique and made me feel SO special.

Rita was such a good friend to me, since high school.  She went out of her way to do kind things for me during difficult times.  Especially during the time right after my son’s passing many years ago.  One can never forget that.  

Remember her sweeps-taking enterprises and the many prizes that were won…..the jewelry making, the handmade items and the craft shows.  

Her special sayings……’Baby Steps’,  her being like the Energizer Bunny, and my favorite….
‘Well,  just shoot me!’

Being a special grandma……
