Rick D Snow

Rick Snow, a proud journeyman lineman of the IBEW Local 53 and a beloved friend to many in Kansas City, MO, was tragically taken from us by a drunk driver on January 14, 2024 at the age of 31 while enjoying a ride on his bicycle.

Rick was a bright, energetic, and outgoing young man who illuminated the lives of those who knew him. He was often the boisterous life of the party with all eyes on him, making everyone laugh and cheer with delight; and yet Rick also enlightened numerous souls with profound understanding and compassion in quiet, private conversations. His youthful purity and openness never faded as he grew into a well-respected and dependable man. He radiated a loving warmth and was always full of surprises; his ability to spread joy cannot be expressed with words alone.

From a young age Rick was an amazing athlete with a passion for all sports, excelling in anything he wanted. Not only was he quick and powerful, his intelligence extended towards his time on any given field of play. Rick was highly competitive but always a good sport. His childhood was mostly spent outdoors, going on adventures with his friends and playing games.

During high school, Rick saw an opportunity to help those who were in need of clothing and basic supplies. He created a donation program that provided easy access to winter coats, hoodies, shoes, canned goods and school supplies. Rick graduated Winnetonka High School in 2011 and the program is still ongoing to this day, continuing to impact the families of the community.

As the years passed, he went on helping others whenever he could and listing Rick’s good deeds and volunteer work could not be written here due to the sheer volume- but also because so many were offered without him ever advertising them to anyone. All Rick did was spread goodness and love.

Although Rick is no longer with us, his memory will be cherished and honored. He will be remembered for having the heart of a lion. His heart was a powerful flame, and although he would not want the world to be a colder place when he left it- it is, anyway. Rick would want us to remember him; his laugh, his voice… his presence, to help us spark a light.

Rick is survived by his parents, Amy and Richard Snow; and his older brother, Ronnie Snow and his younger sister, Tina Snow. Rick also leaves behind his half-brother, Gavin Myer, his cousin, Dakota Snow, and his long-time partner, Angela Dahlstrom.

The Snow family is thankful for all the prayers and support. Visitation is from 6:00 – 8:00pm Friday, January 26th, at the McGilley Antioch Chapel. Funeral services will be held at McGilley Antioch Chapel at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Afterwards, there will be a burial service at Second Creek Cemetery followed by a celebration of life and remembrance event.
