After graduating high school, he married Dorothy and they moved to the Kansas City area. Together they had two children, Richard Daryl Cook and Brenda Gayle Cook Allison. Dick worked in the steel industry all of his life, spending over 35 years at Armco and his last 10 years with J.E. Baker Company.
When he retired, he and Dorothy did a lot of traveling all over the United States, Hawaii, London, Philippines, and many cruises. They attended many horse races all over the United States - they even went to the Preakness in Baltimore. During their 50th wedding anniversary, they traveled to the Panama Canal.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy and his parents.
He is survived by his children, Richard Daryl Cook and Brenda Gayle Cook Allison; 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held from 1-2 PM, service 2 PM, on Tuesday, April 30 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO. Burial will follow at Floral Hills.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church, 613 S. Main St, Independence, MO 64050.
