Raymond Wayne Sparks

Surrounded by his loving family and close friends, Raymond “Ray” Sparks, 66, of Kansas City, MO passed away Monday, March 1, 2021 at Research Medical Center. Ray was born on October 18, 1954 to Elgean Sparks and Wilhelmina Billman. On January 30, 1971, he married Emma “Lula” Gonzales and together they had four sons. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Sparks. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Lula; sons, Ray Sparks (Chela Olivarez), Sam Sparks (Gerarda Ortiz), Mike Sparks (Ashley) and Joe Sparks (Erica); 10 grandchildren who he loved very much, Sierra, Jaclynn, Mike, Serena, Haley, Christopher, Angelina, Noah, Viviana, Joey, and Mila (May 2021), sisters, Nancy White (Gary) and Nita Stubbs (Rick) and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM on Tuesday, March 9, at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd., Kansas City, MO. Funeral Services will follow at 6:30 PM. Please be mindful of COVID restrictions and guidelines and wear a mask.

Ray was loving man with a goofy personality. He enjoyed early mornings, shopping and hunting. He loved his family most and took pride in being “Popo” to his crazy kids. He will be missed more than words can describe.
