Ramonell Chaney Fisher of Leawood, Kansas (formerly Dallas, TX) passed away peacefully Friday, June 17th surrounded by family.
She was born on August 3, 1921 in Honey Grove, TX and was the third of five children of Mattie Lillie (Sorrells) Chaney and Douglas Chaney. She spent her youth on a cotton farm in Honey Grove and after graduating High School moved to Dallas where she began a career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
She was the family trailblazer and eventually moved her widowed mother and two sisters to Dallas after she purchased her first home in 1950. She was an extremely hard worker and always went above and beyond to care for her mother and sisters.
She met the man of her dreams and married Cliff Fisher on May 24, 1975. He brought such joy to her life and they enjoyed dancing and traveling the world together on many different cruise ships.
Upon her husband's passing she moved to Kansas City to be near her sister Marjorie Chaney Mills where they were able to spend their days together shopping, lunching and enjoying Marjorie's infant/toddler great-grandchildren.
Ramonell was preceded in death by her loving husband Cliff Fisher, her parents Mattie Lillie and Douglas Chaney, her brothers Joe and Ray Chaney and sister Ruth Chaney.
She is survived by her step-children Kitty Stone (Jim) and Patty Giles. Her beautiful grandchildren Jenny, Joanna, Cari, Patrick and Emily. Sister Marjorie Mills (Jim) and nieces Wanda Simpson and Brenda Sanders (Phillip) and nephew Larry Chaney (Judy) and devoted friend Carl Giles. She leaves numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews as well.
Ramonell was a beautiful, strong and independent Southern woman and will be laid to rest in her family cemetery in Honey Grove, TX on Tuesday, June 21st following the services at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home.
