My son Paul Melvin Mitchell III (Mitch) was born Sept. 19th, 1960, to parents Connie and Paul. Mitch was born the day before my birthday and was my bundle of joy. Mitch was born in Harbor City, CA and moved back to MO at six-month-old to be close to family. As a little boy he loved playing trains with his dad. Started school at Ott Elementary and then moved to Raytown, MO and went to Raytown Jr. High. While living in Raytown, Mitch became very active in Boy Scouts, worked hard, and earned his Eagle Scout. In 1975 Mitch and his family moved to Lake Winnebago MO where he enjoyed boating, swimming, and skiing. Mitch went to Lee’s Summit High School and out of 550 Seniors he graduated #17 in his class. Mitch played baseball, football, and basketball while in school, and also coached his little sister’s softball team and his brother’s basketball and baseball teams. Mitch had a real knowledge of US presidents; he could recite all of them in order and the years they served and facts about them. He loved the KC Royals and KC Chiefs and loved to go to games with his brother, Brent. Mitch loved to travel and was blessed by his stepfather Art to visit places all over the US, his most favorite place being Hawaii. Mitch had 2 years of college but ultimately knew he wanted to be his own boss. He started his first business in the 80's and his most successful business All-star contract services in the early 2000's. and had many clients including, John Knox Village, C and S Furnace, Curry Real Estate and MGC Leasing and Property Management LLC, etc.. In 1993 he married a sweet girl Tracy Drew and together they raised 4 children, Levi, Peyton, Talon, and Gage. Mitch knew no stranger and opened his home to over 50 people in a time of need, helping them get back on their feet. As we all know Mitch had beyond a kind heart and a loving soul. Mitch is survived by his mother, father, sisters Julie (Joe), Jacque (Brad), brother Brent and his 4 children Levi, Peyton (Joe Dean), Talon (Nate) and Gage, as well as his 4 grandsons whom he adored Channing, Nataniel (NJ), Khalil and McKinley as well as many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. Mitch is proceeded in death by his wife Tracy, his brother Brian, and both sets of grandparents. Mitch fought to live, and battled cancer for 3 1/2 years. As his son Gage said, “he was a real solider”. Losing Mitch leaves a hole in my heart and everyone else who loved him. Mitch gave us many great memories; he will be missed always. I love you so much my son.
