Olive Mae Shulse was born to Thomas Everett and Edna Mathilda Shulse on August 24, 1924. She grew up in the Urich, Missouri area and helped on the farm. She graduated as salutatorian from Ballard High School.
Olive was united in marriage to Ace "Pug" Gibson on May 10, 1943 at the courthouse in Clinton, MO after a short pen-pal romance which endured until his death in 2004. To this union was born Larry, Dorothy, and Debra.
She worked hard and gave 100% to everything she did, whether it be her flowers, her family, or any job or task she tackled. She was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star and played organ for the Masonic Lodge that Ace was a member of. She volunteered in making "heart pillows" for the patients at St. Luke's Cardiac Hospital.
Her greatest joys were the times she got to spend in her flower gardens, travelling with Ace (Pug), time she got to spend with family (especially running amok with Michele), and living her life in Faith. She always said God must be building a really nice mansion, but it was taking a while.
Olive was preceded in death by her parents Everett and Mathilda Shulse; her brother Clarence Everett Shulse; husband Ace (Pug) Gibson; and daughter-in-law Pat Gibson.
She is survived by her children Larry, Dorothy (John), and Debra (Bill); sister Naomi Purcell; grandchildren Michele, Nichole, Matt, Chris, Joy, and Beth; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Olive will be held Monday, March 13, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home (7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133). The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM followed by a graveside committal at Floral Hills Memorial Garden (Same address).
In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Shriners Children's Hospital.
