Millie was born on July 18, 1923 in New Hampton, Iowa where she spent her childhood with her parents and two sisters. After she graduated high school, and World War II had ended, her parents encouraged her to move to Kansas City and leave the country farm life behind.
It was in Kansas City where she met the love of her life, Ralph. They married on December 31, 1947. They raised their only son, Jim, and loved becoming grandparents. The love she and Ralph shared was a true inspiration to all who knew them.
Millie worked for many years as a receptionist/bookkeeper in a doctor’s office. She and Ralph retired early so they could travel, volunteer at church and spend time with their family and friends. She was a devout Christian and long-time member of Grace Point Baptist Church. Millie loved playing cards and talking on the telephone. She had the sweetest smile and such a kind heart.
Millie’s greatest joy was her three grandchildren and their families. She loved spending time with them and she truly cared about their lives. She holds a special place in all of their hearts. Millie was one of the kindest, most caring people many us will ever know!
Millie had a long life and even though she had many health problems she never complained. She was a fighter for many years, but finally decided it was time to shut her eyes and reunite with her love, Ralph, and son, Jim, in Heaven.
She is preceded in death by husband, Ralph; her only child, Jim; her parents, Ruby and Harry and her sisters, Shirley and Dorothy. She leaves behind her three grandchildren: Brian (Linda) of Seattle, WA, Brent (Marty) of Overland Park, KS and Cindy (Troy) of Rosemont, MN; eight great-grandkids: Ben, Riley, Nick, Courtney, Libby, Cameron, Blake and Davis; Jim’s wife, Cindy; a nephew, several nieces and friends.
Visitation will be 2:00p.m. - 2:30 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, November 11 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Point Baptist Church, 10415 Chestnut Drive, Kansas City, Missouri 64137.
