Mike was born on March 22, 1964 in Kansas City, Missouri to Frank and Carol McClure. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Mission Hills. Mike attended Ruskin High School and graduated in 1982. He served in the U.S. Army from 1988 thru 1995.
Mike worked for Newco Manufacturing Co. for 5 years. He then became a member of the Dayco Painting Co. and a member of the Union.
Mike loved playing on the computer and was able to connect with friends from long ago. He loved sharing unique pictures from nature. He also loved music. He loved all genres of music especially from the 40’s & the 50’s—The Rat Pack being one of his all-time favorite groups. That being said, Mike knew all the words to any Rock and Roll, Country, Pop or Jazz song. It amazed me that he knew titles and artist of songs that would come on the radio.
Mike had so many friends as he never knew a stranger. He met people wherever he would go and then they would become his lifetime friend. Mike was always looking out for others and was truly a giver. If he knew someone needed something, he would do his best to help them get it.
Mike was proceeded in death by his father, Frank. He is survived by his mother, Carol McClure and sister Kelley (Brad) Lathrop. A son, Thorne (Amanda) Penrod. He also leaves 2 nephews, Jeff (Andrea) Lathrop, Scott Lathrop, and a niece, Francheska Lathrop. A great niece, Vaida and 2 great nephews, Sawyer and Beau. He also leaves his aunt, Nancy Brandell, cousins Chris (Carol) Mammoliti, Kirk (Whitney) Mammoliti, Sarah (Garrett) Lundry, Don Peterson, Susie Rogers, Jon (Stefanie) Rogers, Shelbi and Abby. He also leaves many close and treasured friends and his beloved pets that meant so much to him. That being said, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the animal shelter of your choice in honor of Mike. That would mean the world to him.
A Private Memorial Service will take place at 3:00pm, on Saturday, January 9, 2020. This service will be livestreamed and may be viewed by clicking the link below.
