Merylin Elizabeth Lipoma, 73, of Blue Springs, MO passed away peacefully on May 15, 2014 after a long 3 and a half month struggle following heart surgery. Merylin was born in Excelsior Springs, MO on May 9, 1941 to Charles Ray and Beulah M. Pemberton. She grew up on a farm in rural Carroll County, MO and was raised by her mother and maternal grandfather, John Bargold, after the unexpected death of her father in 1942. She graduated from Bosworth High School in 1959 and Beauty College in Independence, MO in 1960. She also received her Barber’s license in 1980. She was married to James L. Berrier from 1961 – 1968 and Michael C. Lipoma from 1969 – 2007.
Merylin was a very loving mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, particularly with her grandchildren with whom she shared her creative, artistic and crafty talents. She also dearly loved attending many Saturday night music performances at Big Creek in Pleasant Hill. Merylin was a natural caregiver and thrived on taking care of others. She contributed much time during her life to charitable causes and deeds to help others. She left this world too soon and will be greatly missed by her family. We love you more! As far as love can go!
Merylin was preceeded in death by her parents and a brother, Karl Pemberton. Merylin is survived by her children, Randy Berrier (Joanie) of Littleton, CO, Natalie Lurvey (Richard) of Strafford, MO and Laura Zimmermann (Tim) of Olathe, KS; grandchildren, Joshua & Jeffry Berrier, Samantha & Zachary Lurvey and Henry, Josie & Holden Zimmermann and a sister, Karleen Prout of Independence, MO.
All services are private. There will be a celebration of life memorial at a later date and location to be announced. Contributions may be made to the Hazeldean Medical Fund @ 3708 S. Drumm in Independence, MO 64055 (Hazel Dean is a 2 year old little girl that was very dear to Mom’s heart. She was born with several serious health issues and faces numerous operations in her future.) Other contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
