Merlene E. Davis, a lifelong resident of Kansas City, MO, passed away September 22, 2017 at the age of 78. Born July 27, 1939 in Kansas City, the daughter of Violet Reed, she was preceded in death by her mother, brother Joe Ferstl, and sister Anita Generaux. Merlene is survived by her husband of 58 years, Billy Davis, her son Mike Davis and wife Billie Ann, daughter Lisa Davis, two granddaughters Hannah Hecht and Brittany Davis, as well as five great grandchildren, and nine nieces and nephews. She graduated from Southwest High School, and worked at USF & G and New Hampshire Insurance companies during her career. Merlene’s favorite things were music, animals, flowers and watching KU basketball games.
Visitation will be held 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO 64131. Graveside service to follow at 12 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
