Melvin AKA “Big Bad Mel from Cardiff” (which he wasn’t bad at all) was born September 30, 1945 in Cardiff Wales, UK. He came over to the USA right before age 2 and tried to stay true to his UK roots by talking with an English accent. Unfortunately, it always sounded like a bad train wreck, but that didn’t stop him from trying!
When Melvin wasn’t working at one of his many jobs, his favorite activities were drinking beer (a lot of Busch light), bowling, watching his kids play sports, and going on family vacations to Branson and Lake Paradise. In Branson, he loved staying in A-Frame houses and going to Silver Dollar City. If he wasn’t trying to do “The Claw” to everyone, he was rolling down water slides in his Budweiser swimming trunks(which wasn’t pretty, by the way).
Melvin was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was generous, loving, and hardworking. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma; his parents, Walter and Olive Harmon, brother, Bob Harmon; sister, Linda Harmon and his great grandson, Dallas Earnest. He is survived by his sister and spouse, Pam Dearinger (Pat); 6 children and their spouses; Melanie Shoudt (Wayne), Michael Harmon (Mary), Jamie Harmon (Chasity), Brian Harmon (Tiffany), Brett Harmon (Kimberly) and Mindy Rhea (Justus); as well as 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
