Melissa Vaughn Anthony, 56, Prairie Village, passed away on August 22, 2018, surrounded by family. Funeral services will begin at 5 PM, August 25 at Village Presbyterian Church on Mission Road with a Celebration of Life immediately following. Melissa was born in St. Joseph, MO and lived in the Kansas City area after she married Jeff Anthony on December 6, 1986. She graduated with a home economics degree from MU in 1984 where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta. After graduation she worked for Dillard’s, American Century, and Village Presbyterian Church. Melissa enjoyed entertaining, working with children, volunteering, and traveling. She was passionate about supporting her children’s activities including their swim teams and each of their schools. Melissa was also involved in the community with Children’s Mercy Hospital and multiple animal shelters.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her older sister. She is survived by her husband, Jeff Anthony; her son, Brooks Anthony; her daughter and son-in-law, Addison and John Michael Hillman; her sister, Lynne Harman and family; her niece, Sarah Nixon; her aunt, Pat Farrand and family; and scores of loving, wonderful friends.
