Maureen Cassidy Williamson, 90, born October 8, 1930, passed away October 28, 2020. Rosary at 9:45am at St. Bernadette’s Church on Monday, November 2nd Visitation at 10:00AM with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am.
She was the seventh child of Clara and Lt. Edward Cassidy of the Kansas City Police Department.
Maureen attended Westport High School and grew up in that area.
Maureen was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 38 years Floyd E. Williamson.
After her husband passed away, she stayed active by walking, taking exercise classes at St. Bernadette’s and the YMCA. She and other ladies performed line dances for nursing homes and events. Neighbors always commented on how hard she worked in the yard for her age; mowing in the summer and shoveling snow in the winter. If you looked close she had a green thumb; homegrown tomatoes and cucumbers were her favorite. She would make chili sauce using her mother’s recipe, which was a treat for all of us. During the Christmas season she baked sugar cookies for friends and family. She enjoyed volunteering at Park Lane Hospital and her church St. Bernadette’s, where she was a member of the St. Ann’s Guild.
Maureen got her sense of humor from her mother. She was sharp witted and enjoyed a good joke and liked to pull them. Maxine the Hallmark character was something she found amusing and compared herself to. She had a competitive spirit where even a game of bingo became serious.
Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Mike, Lawrence, Johnny, sisters, Margaret, Marcella and Geraldine.
Maureen is survived by her son David Williamson (Ruth) of Hazel Green, Alabama, daughters, Deborah/Sis Grassi (Bob) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Diane Schleicher (Mike) Raytown, MO, and Deanna/Dee Dee Unruh (Mark), Raytown, MO. She is also survived by her sister, Helyn Nash (Larry) of Kansas City, MO.
Also survives her are her grandchildren: Kelley, Christy, Jessica, Kate, Melissa, Hillary, Michael II, Sarah, Rachel, and Hannah. Great Grandchildren Brayson, Carter, Cash, Mason, Chance, Apollo, Lily, and Ellie, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a supportive mother and will be forever in our hearts and greatly missed especially by her children who loved her dearly.
