She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lowe, her daughter, JoAnn Lowe George, her parents, two brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Lowe is survived by her daughter, Lorrayne Aschwege and her husband Gary Aschwege; six grandchildren, Brian George, Kim George Carter, Mike George, Rick Lawson, Amy Lawson Lucero and Grant Aschwege; ten great-grandchildren and 2 great-great granddaughters.
Mrs. Lowe was born Mary Frances McGarrah on January 14th, 1921 in Plains, Georgia. Her family moved to Homestead, Florida when she was one year old and after several years moved again to DeLand, Florida, where she lived until she married. Frances graduated from DeLand High School and continued her education at Stetson University in DeLand earning a B.S. in Business Administration. During high school and college Frances was an honor roll student and was Drum Major for DeLand High School's and Stetson University's marching bands and played intramural tennis. Frances earned many honors while in high school and college graduating Salutatorian of her high school graduating class. In college she was a member of Delta Delta Delta social sorority and served as their Chaplain, was inducted into Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities her senior year in college, was a member of Phi Society Honor Group, Secretary of Stetson Commerce Club, Vice President of Panhellenic Council, Secretary of Honor Women's Scholarship and Leadership Group and chosen Outstanding Sophomore Co-ed.
Frances married Lieutenant Commander John Lowe in San Diego, California, November 1st, 1945. After he was discharged from the Navy they made their home in Kansas City, Missouri and raised two daughters. In 1955 they were transferred to St. Louis and transferred back to Kansas City in 1971. Everywhere they lived they were active in church. First at Bales Baptist Church in Kansas City, First Baptist Church St. John's in St. Louis and Nall Avenue Baptist Church in Prairie Village, Kansas, where Frances served as a Sunday School Teacher for over 40 years. Once you became a friend of John and Frances you were a friend for life. The family, as well as many friends, will miss Frances and are thankful John and Frances Lowe were part their lives.
Services will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri, Monday, January 8th, beginning at 10 a.m. with a Visitation/Time of Remembrance, Graveside at 11 a.m. and a reception at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Nall Avenue Baptist Church or First Baptist Church of Raytown.
