Mary was born July 8, 1928 in St. Joseph, MO, to Sylvester and Florence (Miller) Minnis. She attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart School. In 1948, Mary married James Heyer and they raised five children. Before his passing in 2014, they were married for 63 years. Mary cared for James when he contracted Polio in 1958. She worked for Quaker Oats and Montgomery Ward in St Joseph before transferring to Kansas City. Mary and James were active in Marriage Encounter for more than 40 years. They were members of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church since 1977.
Survivors include her 5 children, Susan Miller, Nancy Arnold and husband, Terry, Pat Reiner and husband, Ken, Julie Liberty and husband, Tony, and Scott Heyer; 7 grandchildren, Chad, Jamie, Justin, Nathan, Tye, Sara and Robyn Whitney; 11 great grandchildren, Tyler, Andrew and Spencer, Jasmine, Nathan, Jordan and Aidan, Alyssa, Della and Trevor, Kendall; 2 great great grandchildren, Evelyn and Silas; brother, Al Minnis; and sister, Doris Allen; and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial is 12:30 PM Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church; burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the McGilley Antioch Chapel where a rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM.
