Mary Magdalene (Moore) Bacher, age 91, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on May 5, 2022. She was born June 22, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, the daughter of Volney D. Moore and Sophia Ursula (Weber) Moore. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1949.
Mary came to Kansas City immediately following graduation from high school and worked as a secretary for a local lithograph company where she met the love of her life, David Bacher. They were married in 1952 and shared 43 wonderful years together before his death in 1995. Following her marriage, Mary worked as a secretary for Sinclair Refining and later in the accounting offices for Hartzfeld’s on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City.
Mary was kind and generous and would always give a helping hand to those in need. She was fiercely devoted to her husband and extended family who will always remember her beautiful laugh and sense of humor. Mary also had a competitive streak when it came to cards and board games. An avid sports fan, she was able to see her favorite Kansas City Royals win two World Series and the Kansas Chiefs win three Super Bowls. Mary could also tell you anything you’d like to know about NASCAR and the drivers, Jeff Gordon being one of her all-time favorites.
Mary is survived by her brother, Hugh Moore; her sister-in-law, LoVella Moore; and three generations of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Bacher; her brother, Paul D. Moore; and her parents, Volney and Sophia Moore.
The family would like to thank her dear friends, Minze and Sue Brown, for always looking out for our aunt; and Diane Smith, for always getting her where she wanted to go when she wanted to go.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 3, 2023 beginning at 10:00 AM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131. A celebration of life will follow at 11:00 AM followed by a final committal graveside.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Mary’s honor memorial to the United Way of Kansas City or KC Pet Project.
