Martha M. Johansen born January 13, 1927 in Fairbury, Nebraska to Benjamin Franklin and Florence Marian Henrichs (Hilder), Martha graduated from High School in Oshkosh, Nebraska in 1945 and received legal secretarial training in Lincoln, Nebraska. Married to Richard Johansen of North Platte, Nebraska on December 15, 1946 the couple had one son, William Martin Johansen, born in 1947. Martha worked as a legal secretary until 1951 when the family relocated to San Diego, California, later moving to Kansas City, Missouri in 1953. She was a resident of Kansas City until 1993, moving then to Lee’s Summit, Missouri where she has lived until her death on March 4, 2011. Martha was a member of the Kansas City campus of the Colonial Presbyterian Church and worked for the Kansas City division of the Bendix Corporation until her retirement in 1987. Martha was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Richard, who died in 1990. Survivors include her son William and his wife Holly Johansen of Kansas City, and one grandson, Ryan Denney Johansen and his wife Christine of Webster Groves, Missouri, and sister, Joyce Albee of Glendale, Oregon. Private funeral services were held for the family on Monday, March 7th at the Mount Moriah Cemetery, in Kansas City, Missouri with the Reverend Doctor George Campbell officiating. A public Celebration of Life Memorial Service will also be held for Martha Johansen at Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home on Saturday, March 26th, at 1:00 p.m. to accommodate other family, friends, and neighbors.
