He was the first son of Sam and Emma Snell, born in Hastings, Nebraska on January 29, 1932. He moved to North Platte, Nebraska in 1942 and graduated from North Platte High School in 1949. He attended the University of Colorado where he met his wife at a freshman mixer dance and knew this was the girl he wanted to marry. He married Muriel Lois Salzmann on July 1, 1951 in Denver, Colorado and from this union they had three children.
He moved back to North Platte to join his father in the Electrical Contracting business and all his children were born in North Platte. He moved to Kansas City in 1958 and Raytown, Missouri in 1961. He worked at Western Electric in Grandview, Missouri and then Lee’s Summit, Missouri when the plant was built. He retired from AT&T in 1987 after 28 years of service. Mark moved to Sedalia, Missouri in 2004 and enjoyed living in a smaller city. He made many friends while working at Western Electric and AT&T, and had been retired from there for 35 years. After he retired he worked as a private contractor doing Factory Layouts and Utilities Engineering until 2003.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years and his children, Roger Snell and wife Katie of Topeka, Kansas, Randall Snell and wife Jeanne of Raymore, Missouri and daughter Roxann Littlejohn and her husband Gary of Oak Grove, Missouri, seven grandchildren, Ryan Snell, Bradley Snell, Chris Snell, Eric Snell, Megan Albin, Ashley Dougherty and Jeff Dougherty, twelve great-grandchildren, Cooper Snell, Jackson Snell, Claire Snell, Kaylen Snell, Ella Snell, Hadley Snell, Beckett Snell, Ava Snell, Sam Snell, Collins Dougherty, Parker Dougherty, and Mayla Brummett.
He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Georgia Lerner and Esther Leach, and brother Ray Snell.
Mark was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sedalia, Missouri and the Masonic Lodge of North Platte, Nebraska.
Mark loved being with his family, fishing and traveling. He could repair and fix about anything and enjoyed doing work for others. Mark adored his wife and dog Mande and spoiled them with love, care and attention.
