Marjorie was born in Netawaka, Kansas, on July 4th, 1926, to George and Lola Cashman. She had a wonderful childhood growing up on a farm with her seven brothers and sisters.
After graduating from high school, she went to work in Fort Hayes, Kansas, where she met future husband, Robert Voelker.
After marriage, they moved to Kansas City, MO, where they raised four children: Cynthia Lessenden, William Voelker, Bradley Voelker, and Carol Brandt.
She was blessed to have six grandchildren: Robert Lessenden, Joy Gibson, Barry Voelker, Amy Thomas, Christine Moseley, and Evan Brandt. She also delighted in her eight great-grandchildren: Kayla and Skyler Lessenden, Isaac, Averi, Nicholas, and Peri Gibson, Katherine Thomas, and Marshall Moseley.
Marjorie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Kansas City Shepherd’s Center. She was happiest reading, playing Scrabble, sea shelling on Sanibel Island, and watching the Kansas City Royals and K.U. basketball.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Voelker, her parents, two sisters, two brothers, and one granddaughter, Amy Voelker Thomas. Survivors include two sisters, Sallyann Strawn and Shirley Kaye Martin, a brother, Duane Cashman, daughter-in-law, Linda Voelker, son-in-law, Michael Lessenden, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7th, from 2-4, and the funeral will be on Monday, August 8th, at 11 a.m., both at the Mt. Moriah, Newcomer and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Internment will be at the Parkview Lawn Cemetery.
