Loring was born April 29, 1930 in Lawrence, KS. Loring was one of three children born to Mary Stevens (Sawtelle) and Irvin E. DuBois. Loring attended White Church Elementary and graduated from Washington Rural High School in 1945. Loring served as a sharpshooter in the United States Army. He graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1953. There, he was a member of Sigma Tau Honor Society. Loring retired in 1985 after having worked for AT&T for 32 years.
After retiring, he became a member of the AT&T Pioneers. Some of Loring’s pastimes were amateur radio, crossword puzzles, golf, birdwatching, and bowling.
Loring married Kathryn Louise (Denham) on April 3, 1965 at the Community Christian Church. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2015. Their devotion to each other was expressed during their years together with much travel and shared activities such as Chief’s games, hosting extended family dinners sand square dancing.
Loring had many wonderful qualities, Kind and soft-spoken, Loring was strong patriarch of family. He was a man who would give his shirt for his friends and loved ones, even during his later years. Loring will be missed by all who were lucky to have known him.
Loring was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn, his parents Mary and Irvin, and his sister Barbara (Frank) Lane. Loring is survived by his brother Robert Newell DuBois of Topeka KS. and nephews Steven DuBois of Lenexa and Dr. Richard (Ellen) Albistegui-DuBois of Vista, CA.
