She was a graduate of Westport High School and attended the University of Central Missouri. She met her future husband Larry at Weaver airline school. Linda spent time in several jobs until her son arrived, after which she kept the home. She was a good athlete- a swimmer, lifeguard, and field hockey player.
She left behind a loving husband- the love of her life, Larry- and a son, a loving family and countless close friends. Linda will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Linda's life was defined by her unbelievable kindness and generosity, as well as her eager laugh, and trusting and trustworthy nature. Linda had great faith in God, and lived her life in a way that showed that she carried out her beliefs with actions based in love, caring, and deep commitment. Everyone liked Linda- without exception- and she was a joy to spend time with- she loved being with people and having a good time. Linda possessed the rare ability to listen with purpose, letting you know that she felt what you had to say was important. She asked about others and genuinely cared how they were doing. Her sincerity
was ever-present. She put others first- always. Linda was an exceptionally dedicated wife, mother, and friend. She was incredibly generous- sharing whatever she had to help others and let them know how she felt. Linda modeled the right way- showing great patience and concern. She was very loving.
As a mother, she cared about the success of her son David more than anything else, and sacrificed to ensure he had every opportunity to have an educated, happy, successful life full of meaning, love, and friendship. She took great care to ensure that David was afforded the best, and was always there for him through life's many twists, turns, and adventures- including a trip to Western Canada with David to see the beauty of nature and marvel at the landscapes of mountains, lakes, and wildlife. She loved music, travel, laughing at sitcoms or Blue Bloods, and being with Larry. Linda habitually offered all that she had- love, time, presence, and support- for David, and his closest friends, whom she treated like extra sons and daughters, and to whom she will forever be known as Mama Coon. Linda lived vicariously through David's many successes, and the extent of her pride in her son, and who he has become and will continue to be, is truly beyond measure.
Linda was' the beloved wife of Larry Coon, her husband of more than 49 years, mother of David Coon, dear daughter of the late Kline and Emily (Bethmann) Martinek, dear sister of the late Judith (Harry) Pottinger, and sister-in-law Yvonne (Gene) Clarke. A friend to many, she will be especially missed by Pat (Forrest) and daughter Laura Wombwell; and her Group, Linda Sylvester, Brenda Tonyes, Laura Lau, Jean Coffey, and Haven Power.
