A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2015 at McGilley Memorial Chapels, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, Mo 64145. Pastor Courtney Felzke, Church of the Resurrection, will be officiating.
Lester was born July 10, 1925 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Alan and Bertha (Berger) Terrill. He attended Pickett High School, and then left for Army Air Corp Pilot Training in 1945. On May 15, 1948 he married the former Irene Sherrer in St. Joseph, Missouri. Lester was employed as an Air Traffic Controller in Olathe, Kansas for 24 years. He retired as a Lt Colonel from the Missouri Air National Guard. He served 29 years in the military and during his career he flew missions in WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
Lester spent his retirement in the company of good friends enjoying gin games at the Country Club of Leawood. He was a loving and proud father, grandfather great grandfather and “dog father” to Stormy and Cricket.
Lester is survived by his wife of 68 years, Irene Terrill of Leawood, son Steven Terrill (CeaAnn Terrill) of Richmond, Virginia, daughters Linda Terrill (Benjamin Neill) of Overland Park, Kansas and Janet (Terrill) Hanson (Mitchell Hanson) of Kansas City, Missouri, brothers Edward Terrill of St Joseph, Missouri and Mike Terrill of Platte City, Missouri, 8 granddaughters and 1 great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Terrill.
