Leon Mitchell, of Grandview, MO, passed away on March 3, 2015, at the age of 80. As a retired Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy, he proudly served his country for 20 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Vera Mitchell; and his brothers, William Mitchell, Jr., Eugene Mitchell, and Ronald Mitchell. Leon is survived by his three sons: Leonard (Jami), Marco (Jessica) and Nico (Kelly); his brother, Donald Mitchell; his three sisters, Lacy Baker, Mary Louise Arnold, and Wilma Wesson; and six grandchildren: Jordan, Peyton, Jack, Dominic, Kyler and Emeric. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2015 at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 14 at Mt. Moriah & Freeman. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
