Leo Dujakovich, age 84, passed away July 18, 2023, at his home in Sugar Creek, MO surrounded by family. The visitation will be held on Sunday, August 13, from 6-8 p.m. at McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home at 11924 E. 47th Street, Kansas City, MO. The rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 14, at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, located at 6415 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO, with committal service to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1150 N. 38th Street, Kansas City, KS.
Leo was born December 20, 1938, to Theodore and Mary (Broski) Dujakovich. Leo graduated from De La Salle Military Academy in 1955. He married the love of his life, Joyce Maloney, in June 1959. Together they raised their six children and watched their family grow to include a loving group of in-laws, 14 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. They were true Dujakovich family treasures. Leo was not only the proud patriarch of his own family, but he also served as a mentor, coach, father figure, and peacemaker to many others throughout his life.
Leo was a Business Agent for the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 2. He went on to become a prosperous business owner of a sheet metal company that provided a livelihood to three generations and counting.
Leo is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joyce Dujakovich, his son Michael Dujakovich, daughter-in-law Heather Dujakovich, son-in-law Ron Gulick, and brothers Paul and Ted Dujakovich. He is survived by his children Karen Bauer (Fabian), Patrick Dujakovich (Stacey), Gregory Dujakovich, Josef Dujakovich (Jennifer), Baxter (Patti), Christa Gulick as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and three generations of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
