Katie Kimmel Baker

Katie attended Prairie Star Elementary School and Middle School and Blue Valley High School, graduating in 2007. She attended Johnson County Community College, Pittsburgh State University and University of Missouri, Kansas City.

She was loved by her family and friends and always had a beautiful smile and sweet spirit. Her special interests and talents led her to work with young children, gardening design, floral arrangements, photography and interior design.

Katie was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Alice (Derks) Brock and paternal grandfather Robert D. Baker. She is survived by her parents, Paul and Laura (Brock) Baker of Leawood, Kansas; brother, Andrew Baker of Prairie Village, Kansas; Grandparents Craig and Janet Christie and Daniel Brock, all of Leawood. Aunts and uncles include Meghan (Brock) Huber and Patrick Huber; Victoria (Baker) Roper and Jeff Roper; Bradley Baker and Tina (Simpson) Baker; Stephen Brock (Alison) and MaryLee Brock. Beloved cousins include Jonathan Roper (Sarah) of Wichita; Megan Roper of Seattle, Washington; Robert and Zachary of Phoenix, Arizona; and Claudia and Etienne Brock of Omaha, Nebraska.

A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 12251 Antioch Road, Overland Park, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Atchison Valley Hope, 1816 North 2nd Street, Atchison, Kansas 66002.
