Karen Rose "Kay" Davis passed away peacefully on April 24, 2014. Born a twin, April 16, 1939 in Lewistown, PA to Charles and Ruth Glunk, she was one of five children. She attended Wayne State University in Detroit, MI and graduated from Avila College, Kansas City, MO. She came to Kansas City as a flight attendant for TWA, where she met the love of her life, Jim Davis, her husband for 50 years. Jim and Kay settled in Overland Park, Kansas where they raised their two children.
Kay loved to be surrounded by family and friends. Whether it be travelling the world, monthly dinners with the Casa Loma group spanning 50 years, organizing the next family reunion, or attending weekly activities with her greatest passion and source of pride, her seven grandsons, the focus was always on others.
Kay was actively involved in Johnson County Young Matrons, Temporary Lodging for Children, TWA Silver Wings, Performing Arts at Johnson County Community College, as well as Shawnee Indian Museum. She served as the Religious Education Coordinator at Holy Trinity Parish for many years. For the past several years she was an active parishioner at St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Leawood, KS.
Kay was preceded in death by (her parents), her sister, Jane G Smith, and her twin brother Kirk J Glunk. She is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter Kelly Morgan (Mitch); son Jim Davis (Julie); grandchildren Brooks Morgan, Collin Morgan, Davis Morgan, Tyler Morgan, Jack Davis, Joseph Davis, and Johnny Davis. Also survived by her brothers C. William Glunk (Rhoda) of Sarasota, FL and Robert J Emmons (Christine) of Santa Barbara, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Classy and beautiful, Kay touched the lives of many people and brightened every room she entered. She lived a wonderful life filled with faith, family, and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 30th, 10:00 a.m., at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 14201 Nall, Leawood, KS, with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 29th, at McGilley State Line Chapel, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., where the Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m.
