Julie Ann Bitzer, 1958-2015, passed in her home on April 9th. She is survived by her children, Michael, Derek, Allison, Brittney; Terry, her mate; his son, Brandon; and her grandchildren, Naomi, Lyric, Marilyn, Zoe and Harper; Bob and Betty, her parents; and her sister, Jan. She was born in Independence but came to call Midtown Kansas City her home with her children.
A loving, single mother who single-handedly raised her children despite innumerable life challenges. She strove endlessly to overcome the barriers placed in front of her and her children. Julie instilled in her kids a deep sense of right and wrong and how to make something out of nothing. Her ability to "pull rabbits out of her hat" and keep her family afloat was reflective of her intelligence, resolve, and commitment to her children.
Julie's home and heart were open to everyone. She gave shelter, support, and care to all in need; even when her cupboards were bare. She taught us helping others was a way of life. She was a mother to many who had none. In addition to her family and mate, her pets were a mainstay of her life and a source of great joy.
A service will be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 3800 Troost Ave. Kansas City, Missouri 64109, on Monday, April 20th at 10:30a.m. Burial to follow in Forest Hill, 6901Troost Ave, KCMO 64131. Please send flowers to St. Mark Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
We will miss her like we loved her and she loved us -- greatly
