Judy spent the first 18 years of her life in Kansas City. Her interest in photography began in those early years, as she snapped countless pictures of her much loved younger sister, Sally.
Judy’s first move brought her to the University of Kansas, where she joined her Tri-Delt sorority and graduated with a degree in business. Most importantly, it was at KU where she met and married Terry. Together they headed off to jobs in Illinois; there they welcomed their two children, David and Kathy. Judy stayed home with her young children, but still found time to volunteer and serve in leadership with the hospital auxiliary, PTA, and school board elections.
After 22 years in Illinois (primarily Wheaton), Judy and Terry relocated to Spring, Texas. Judy worked as an executive assistant in banks and eventually as a payroll manager for AIM Financial Services. After retirement, Judy and Terry traveled to see family in Kansas City, Michigan, New Jersey, and Maryland. Judy especially adored going wherever her five grandchildren were. Katarina, Gretchen, Friedrich, Hans and Christian were the lights of her life, as everyone who heard her countless grandchildren stories can testify.
In addition to traveling, Judy went back to the activities that meant so much in her younger years. She volunteered at Houston Northwest Hospital, serving as president of the volunteer auxiliary. After trusting in Christ, she was baptized and joined Champion Forest Baptist Church.
Judy was known for her witty conversation, ready laughter, and her dazzling smile. She was an unforgettable friend, sister, wife and mother.
Judith was preceded in death by her husband Terry in 2016. She is survived by her sister Sally Platt, son David Brown (Jodie); daughter Kathryn Rathert (Mark); and five grandchildren Katarina, Gretchen, Friedrich, Hans and Christian Rathert.
