Joyce Sue (Robertson) Kelsay of Independence, Missouri went to her heavenly reward on December 19, 2021. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri, November 26, 1946 to George L. and Anna Lee (Phillips) Robertson, who preceded her in death. Joyce leaves her loving husband, Donald G. Kelsay and her two sons, Philip and wife (Shelly) and Brian and wife (Darlene), six grandchildren, Tyler, John, Kaden, Zachary, Zoe, Sophie, and three great grandchildren. Her sisters Donna and Beverly preceded her, as well.
Joyce retired in 2012 from Plastics Enterprises, Lee's Summit, Missouri in the customer service department, leaving a rewarding 20-year career, many happy customers and a group of coworkers that became family.
Joyce fought a years long battle with rheumatoid arthritis and had previously successfully beaten cancer. She had several mini strokes and a difficult infection in her final days. Joyce daily put on the whole armor of God and stood against her physical ailments and the ailments of the world. She aided those in need as she best knew how, whether with a kind word, a hug, a smile, a meal, a laugh or a pointed scripture. She served as a Sunday school teacher, and in prior years, as an interim pianist.
She enjoyed traveling to warm places with Don at her side. She turned a friendly game of cards or dominos into a battle of the wits, and with a shout of joy she often played the winning hand. She was an avid reader, a bird watcher, loved good jokes and well-crafted puns.
Most of all, she enjoyed her growing family and her church family. She loved and was loved.
