Joseph Bird Hall, 94, of Kansas City, passed away on September 24, 2024 at Claridge Court Skilled Nursing Center in Prairie Village. Born on April 1, 1930, to Porter Thomas Hall and Josephine Bird Hall, Joe was a devoted husband to the late Dorothy Coulter Hall and father to Jocelyn Hall Shelton (Mark) of Fairway, Kansas and Hillary Hall Goldberg (Steven) of Orange, Virginia.
Joe is also survived by grandchildren, Hillary Bascom Wolbach (Hunter), Hunt Bascom (Kathryn), Hunter Leake (Danielle), Giles Leake (Lauren) and Caroline Leake Rykowski (Jake), eight great-grandchildren and long-time friend, Helen Lea. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy and parents Porter Thomas Hall and Josephine Bird Hall.
Throughout his life, Joe was known for his passion for running rivers and his steadfast love of the Boston Red Sox. He was a former member of The Kansas City Country Club, the River Club and the Kansas City Club. A graduate of Pembroke Hill School and Northwestern University, he will be remembered for his devotion to family, dogs and Psi Upsilon, his college fraternity.
Following a private burial at Union Cemetery, a celebration of Joe’s life for friends of the family will be held on Tuesday, October 1 at 4 p.m. at The Kansas City Country Club. Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
