John (who was known as Dennis to the family) was born on March 25, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended St. Peter's and Christ the King elementary schools and was a 1971 graduate of Bishop Hogan High School. After earning a bachelor's degree in Political Science and Economics from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, he moved to Springfield, Illinois, and later lived in Billings, Montana. He eventually returned to the Kansas City area and had a long career in the insurance industry.
Sports and outdoor activities were an important part of John's life. He played Little League baseball in grade school, and lettered in football in high school. He enjoyed deep sea fishing and spending time outside with his dog. He also was a big fan of the Royals, Chiefs, and Missouri Tigers.
One of John's trademark characteristics was his sense of humor. His wit and entertaining stories will be greatly missed.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Rosemary and Raymond Minter. He is survived by his sister, Linda Minter of Overland Park, Kansas, and his Vizsla, Liberty.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 16000 W. 143rd Street, Olathe, Kansas, at 10:30 on Monday, January 22nd, with visitation beginning at 9:30 at the church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
