John was born December 12, 1931 in Hillsdale, Missouri to John Walker-Ferguson and Althea Caston.
He graduated from Frederick Douglas Senior High School in Columbia, Missouri in May 1950.
He was a member of Jamison Memorial Temple CME church. He was employed with Hallmark Cards company beginning in 1958 until his retirement (1990's).
John entered into the army serving in active duty in 1952 through January 1954. He was active in the reserves from September 1955 through September 1956, and remained a standby reservist until April
1960. After completing a total of eight years he was honorably discharged April 2, 1960.
John enjoyed many aspects of life. He was an avid photographer. He was a member of the American National Red Cross, participating in National Aquatic School (Oklahoma) in June & July of 1950. As well as
participating in Standard First Aid (swimmers course, senior life savings, water safety instructor, first year boating, first year canoeing and swimming pool leadership.
He married November 1, 1980 to Louise Wagner, who survives him. He leaves to mourn his passing a host of friends and family, including one brother Howard Turner (Cora) and one sister Dorothy Hickam (Harold).
John was preceded in death by his father (John Ferguson), his mother (Althea Grant), his sister (Louise Coats) and two brothers (William McKee, Sr.) and (Delmar Leon) whom passed in infancy.
