Joel Robert Ross passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 24, 2024 in Independence, Missouri at 11:28 a.m. He was only 42 years old. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden death. Joel was born on December 7, 1981 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He grew up in Independence, Missouri and attended Fort Osage High School. He later on attended Avila University and graduated with Magna Cum Laude. He was baptized at Our Redeemer in Kansas City, Missouri before attending Messiah Lutheran Church where he was confirmed.
Joel was passionate about sports and loved to play the piano. He was very skilled at Texas Hold’em and loved to be surrounded by his friends and family. One of his favorite places was the ocean. He also loved animals and watching movies. His favorite jobs he held included working at the Animal Hospital in Blue Springs, Missouri and Marketing Sales for Royals Stadium.
Joel is survived by his father, John Edward Ross; mother, Kathryn Susan (Diebold) Ross; and will forever be remembered by his siblings, Daniel Aaron Ross; and half- brother, Johnny Alan Ross.
Joel was a very caring and thoughtful person inside and out. He cared deeply for the people around him. He made an impact on many lives. He will be forever missed. Until we meet again.
Visitation will be held at noon on Wednesday, March 6 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd., Independence, MO 64055, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm. Interment will be in New Salem Cemetery.
