Jerry Lee Birkes

Jerry was born May 17, 1935 in Maysville, Arkansas to James Richard and Lydia Opal (Stanley) Birkes.

He married Joye Ruth (Kelley) Birkes on August 31, 1957 in Miami, Oklahoma.

Jerry is survived by his four children; Teresa, David, Susan and Kelley. He was blessed with three grandsons and 1 granddaughter, three great-granddaughters and three great-great-granddaughters and one great-great-grandson.

He spent many years volunteering in various capacities with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a Sachem in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, a member of the Tribal Council. His tribal name was "Sachem Stalking Gray Cougar". Jerry was the Scoutmaster for Troop 552, the District Training Chairman for the Thunderbird District and a Course Director for Woodbadge. He worked for Hallmark cards as a typesetter for 37 years.

A Visitation will take place from 1:00pm to 2:00pm followed by a 2:00pm Funeral Service on Tuesday, September 28 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery South.
