Janine Raines Worland died unexpectedly at her home in Paola, Kansas on January 6, 2017. Janine was born September 17, 1960 in Springfield, Missouri and was the only child of Robert and Charlene Raines. She graduated from Kickapoo High School and then Drury University before embarking on a very successful career in the insurance industry which eventually caused her in 1999 to join A.J. Gallagher / Risk Placement Services (“RPS”) working first in Springfield, Missouri and eventually in Kansas City where she became Vice President for RPS and in charge of RPS’ Kansas City Branch.
While with RPS she became a very successful wholesale insurance broker specializing in complicated and difficult to place property and casualty exposures. Her technical insurance knowledge and her positive, upbeat personality earned her a great reputation within the industry where she successfully competed at a high level within the special risk market. She built a very successful book of business, while also managing the RPS branch by recruiting, mentoring and developing strong bonds with her associates, retailers, markets and clients. As driven as Janine was to be successful at everything she did, Janine was more demanding of herself than of others. She was a great spokesman and recruiter for RPS and she loved partying and spending time with her family and personal and business friends. She truly loved the people of RPS who she considered part of her family. Janine was a very positive person with an upbeat personality who loved life and this attribute gave her the ability to overcome personal losses and heartbreaks she faced in her life.
She enjoyed life and insisted others enjoy it also. She was a builder of both personal and business relationships. Nothing gave her more satisfaction than when her son, Blake, elected to intern with Gallagher in 2011 and later join RPS permanently in 2013. Janine and the RPS family have mentored him since assuring that he will have the strength to move forward in his life.
Janine was predeceased by her father, Robert Raines, and her husband of over twenty years, Robert Worland who died in 2011. She is survived by her mother, Charlene Raines of Springfield, her son Blake Worland of Kansas City and her current husband, Scott Fisher, who she married in 2014 and step-sons Kyle Fisher and Ryan Fisher. She is also survived by her father-in-law, William Worland, mother-in-law, Maida Worland, and her sister-in-law, Kathy Nigro and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and “shirt-tail relatives” whose lives she touched and who will miss her very much.
On Wednesday, January 11, 2017 there will be a visitation held between 9:00 am and 12:30 pm followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm both to be held at the Church of the Resurrection in the Wesley Covenant Chapel located at 13720 Roe Avenue, Leawood, Kansas following the funeral, there will be a reception in Janine’s honor between 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Hallbrook Country Club located at 11200 Overbrook Road, Leawood, Kansas where friends and family will gather.
Janine’s family suggests that those wishing to make a donation in Janine’s name consider Wayside Waifs located at 3801 Martha Truman Road in Kansas City, MO 64137 in recognition of her love of animals.
The suddenness of her passing leaves us all saddened. Still, those who knew Janine best will take solace in the knowledge that Janine “lived life to the fullest” and accomplished more (and had much more fun doing it) than most of the rest of us. We will all truly miss her but we will never forget her or how she touched our lives.
