James was born on July 31, 1967 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Grandview High School in 1985 and joined the Marines. He worked for Landis and Gyr Tech Inc. for 26 years as an radio frequency technician II.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Eleanor Gebo, Adela Carson, and Jean Walruff; his grandfather, Harold Carson; and fathers, James R. and Robert Carson. He is survived by his grandfather, James Walruff; his mother Linda Whitaker; his sister, Leslie Carson; and son, Jacob Carson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, "framily", and friends.
James loved to fish, garden, watch sports, and support the Chiefs and NASCAR. He was an excellent cook, enjoyed smoking meats, and home cultivation.
