James Frederick “Jim” Babcock, 81, of Kansas City, MO passed away on January 22, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was born October 18, 1934. He was the youngest of four children born to Lionel E. and Ruth M. Babcock. He met and married the love of his life, Margaret Ann Gentry, in 1956. They were married for 59 years. He served our country as a solider in the Army after the Korean War. He retired from Kansas City Power and Light where he worked for 42 years. He was an avid fisherman and devoted Chiefs fan. He coached girls’ softball for ten years. He served on the board for Bel-Air Swim Club, South Suburban Junior Athletic Association and the Hickman Mills High school Booster Club. He was a wise, loving and generous man.
His grandchildren, Bradley, Lucas, Abigail, Sydney and Armani were the light of his life. Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father, two brothers, Lionel E. Babcock and Bud Babcock, a sister, Dorothy Evans and his best friend of 60 years, Larry Riley. Survivors include his beloved wife, Margie Babcock, Darin (Valerie) Babcock, Renee (Michael) Graybill and David (Melissa) Riley as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO, on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, 10:00 am with memorial services following at 11:00am.
