He was born April 14, 1939, to Glenn and Cecil (Miles) in Arcadia Kansas but grew up in Independence where he permanently resided. He worked at Curt’s Market for 26 years where his incredible mind memorized most of the numbers for ordering groceries long before computers.
He was well known as a kind and caring man in his neighborhood and at Maywood Church where he was a member for decades. He was proud of the good neighbor award he received but never flaunted it. He loved to brighten your day with a joke or pass along a coupon or 4 or 5 so that you could get a good deal.
He is survived by the love of his life, Mae, whom he was thrilled to have recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Other family include step children Dan (Jim), Kathy, grandson, Issac and sisters Judy, Susie (Phil), Janice, Rita (Leon), Mary and Cheryl. He is predeceased by brothers Glenn, Jerry and Ralph.
Visitation will be at Floral Hills Funeral Home Friday August 13, 2021 from 10-11 with graveside service at 11.
The family would like to thank the staff at Maywood Terrace and Three Rivers Hospice for making Jack’s final days as peaceful as possible.
