Helen attended Camdenton (MO) High School and the University of Missouri – Columbia. She met her future husband, Eldon Guy White, in high school. Eldon served in the US Army Air Corps in World War II and after the war they married and moved to Lee’s Summit, MO. After the birth of their first son, Dennis, she worked for Unity Village as a stenographer. She quit to give birth to their second son, Keith, and after she went to work for Western Electric in Lee’s Summit as an inspector. She retired in 1988 and after has enjoyed over 30 years of a healthy, fulfilling retirement. She enjoyed country music and cooking for her family, and she absolutely loved dancing. She especially enjoyed spending time with her best friend Sharon, and always looked forward to the weekends when Lena came to town. Nothing was more important than family to Helen and the love she showed was returned to her as her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren all visited or contacted her frequently. Helen had a magnetic personality, and she had a beauty and energy that greatly belied her age. She was a bright light in so many lives and she will be greatly missed.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon Guy White; her sister, Mildred (Midge) Taylor; a grandson, Dennis Montgomery; and a great-granddaughter, Jasmine Dunham.
Helen is survived by her sons, Dennis White (Susan) and Keith White (Joanna); her grandchildren, Becky Yarborough (Kelly), Heydon White, Taylor White (Diane), Alaina Prescott (Ryan) and James White, MD, Capt. USAF (Alyson); as well as 8 great grandchildren.
A memorial service for Helen will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM at McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home, 11924 East 47th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64133, followed by a gathering with friends and family.
