Harrison Ernest Wheeler, Jr. passed away on August 18th, 2021 at the age of 68, with his loving caretaker and Brother Scott by his side. Harrison is our BIG Brother “Harry”. He was born November 3rd, 1952 at Menorah Hospital of Kansas City. He lived in Raytown most of his life. After graduating from Raytown High School he attended college. Harry was a natural athlete. He joined The Fellowship of Christian Athletes and went to camp in Colorado.
Harry was proud that he had helped many people reach their potential as a literacy teacher. Always seeking a new endeavor, he worked at Land Industry, Commerce Bank, and Western Electric. He spent the last 20 years of his working career at Honeywell as an inspector. He enjoyed spending his days working a high tech position that was very satisfying to him. He was a true team player. He joined his teammates and became a part of The Honeywell Softball Team. They were a great team!
He volunteered a lot of his time to Harvesters, always donated, and encouraged others to do the same to better the community. Harry enjoyed hunting, 10 speed biking, dirt biking, tennis, and baseball. He played baseball with his brothers Mark, Scott, Kerry, Jeffery, and all of his neighborhood friends. Harry sure could hit a high fly ball really far away. On a more fast side, he would race in his ’52 Chevy, blue Nova, and white Camaro. Did you ever beat him? He would probably say no. Harry never missed a Royals game. He would listen on the radio, watch on tv, or actually be in the stadium. He was a HUGE FAN!
Fireworks were BIG on his brother Scott’s 4th of July birthday celebrations. Harry, with all his brothers, had bottle rocket wars that always ended with loads of joy, laughter, and of course burn marks. Never a dull moment with those brothers. Harry loved rock music, tv, tons of movies, and video games, which he became quite good at playing.
Harry loved his Mom Joan and dad Harrison Sr. He carried his dad’s name with pride.
Most of all, he knew and had a personal relationship with God and Jesus. He kept them near and tight in his heart and soul. We know God has a place for Harry in Heaven. He cared for his family and friends and in this loving memory, he will be missed. We will see him again!
Rest well in Loving Peace Dear BIG Brother “Harry”.
