Gregory L. Simmons, Sr.

Gregory Lindsey Simmons, Sr, 68, Smithville, MO passed away Sept. 7, 2015 in Smithville. Funeral Service will be Thursday, Sept. 10 at 10:00 AM at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City. Burial with military honors to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Liberty, MO. A visitation will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, Sept. 9, also at McGilley Antioch Chapel.

Greg was born Feb. 17, 1947 to William and Betty June Simmons in DeRidder, LA. At age seven, his family moved to Kansas City, where he attended Northeast High School, class of 1965. He was in the Army from 1965 – 1968, 23rd Inf. Regiment, 2nd Infantry Div. on DMZ in Korea and 3rd Inf. Div. in Germany. Upon his return to Kansas City, he married the former Doris Glispey, to whom he was married for 46 years. He retired, having worked for the Rock Island Rail Road and IKON Clerical.

Predeceased by his parents, and a brother, William Geoffrey Simmons, Greg is survived by his wife, Doris; sons Ben (Joanna), Gregory, Jr., Geoff (Wendy) and Conan Simmons; granddaughters Audrey, Samantha and Spencer Simmons.
