Greg was born in Kansas City, Missouri on March 2,1958 to Donald and Dena Kenyon. He graduated from Ruskin High School in 1976. During his childhood he loved playing baseball and as an adult played on both men and coed leagues. As an adult, he also bowled on a league with all three of his brothers and would come home full of excitement and stories from those nights with his brothers. Greg worked as a machinist at a couple of machine shops, he taught diesel mechanics at a school for over the road truck drivers, was an automotive mechanic at Overland Park Jeep, and worked for 20 years as a Machinist for the BNSF Railway in Kansas City, KS. He loved being a "railroader" and loved all of his railroad buddies and was known to be quite the prankster at times.
Greg absolutely loved dogs! He and his wife adopted several dogs over the years and also volunteered at a local animal rescue to walk dogs. Greg was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather - he loved family get togethers (especially the holidays), spending time with friends and absolutely loved his time with his grandchildren. Anyone that was fortunate enough to know Greg, knew he was a kind and gentle soul with a great sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by many.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Dena, two brothers, Jeff & Keith Kenyon and a sister, Julie Hatten. Greg is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathy, his daughter, Karie (James) Carlson, two bonus children, Christina (AJ) Hembree, Robert (Andrea) Engler, his step-mother, Ann Kenyon, two brothers, Scott Kenyon, Mitch (Paige) Kenyon, eight grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, and many other family members who he loved dearly!
The family would like to thank Crown Care in Harrisonville Missouri and One Community Hospice and Palliative Care for taking such good care of Greg.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking to make contributions in Greg's name to:
