She was the second of five children and the only daughter of Virginia Hardiman and Deacon George Bryant (both deceased) in Shreveport, Louisiana. She has two surviving brothers left, Elliot Bryant (Cleo) of Vallejo, Cal., and Milton Bryant (Mary) of Quitman, Louisiana. Georgia is survived by her only husband, Walter L. Thompson. They were both born on January 29, but different years, and both were born in Louisiana, and came to Kansas City as teenagers. After 45 years of marriage it ended, but they stayed “Friends”.
Georgia raised their three daughters in the Morning Star Baptist Church under Reverend Eason. Years later she attended and was an active member at the Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, where her older brother Deacon Richard Hardiman (deceased) and brother Ananias Bryant (deceased), first wife Shirley his second wife Martha also attended.
She finished the 9th grade in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a member of the 64th Street Club, a member of the Order of Eastern Star Melrose Chapter. She didn’t finish her LPN, but worked for the Baptist Hospital for 30 plus years.
She leaves to cherish her three daughters, Toni Anderson, and her three daughters, Gabrielle Anderson, her twins, Lisa Horn (Willie Paul Horn, Jr.) and daughter, Lena Horn, and Justina Dewberry / Robin Thompson-Thomas and her three children, Jewel Thompson, Melissa Barbi (Cabin), and her children, Jasmine, Lily and Roceo, Andre’ Thomas and his son, Andre’ Jr., - Sharon Thompson and her four children; Bryant Williams and his son Xavier, and her twins, Alan and Alex Kneeland, and his son, Makhi and daughter, Raven Mack and her son, Desmond; nieces and nephews, the Hardimans and the Bryants and cousins, the Browns and Shermans.
Reference to Proverbs 31:10-31. Georgia went through many things in her life that many would not have made it through. She showed her girls strength, kindness and dignity and how to be ladies, stand up for what you believe and always to praise and love the Lord.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends at the Marlborough Community Center, 8200 Paseo.
