Gabriela Castaneda

Gabriela (Gabbi) Castaneda passed away on Tuesday, April 8th. She was born on April 1, 1986, at St. Lukes Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She grew up with her mom and siblings in Kansas City, Kansas.

Gabriela attended Bishop Miege High School, and graduated from Rockhurst University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. She worked as a Human Capital Consultant at Deloitte, focusing on the Workday Platform and Technology. She was passionate and actively involved in Diversity, Equity, and inclusion efforts throughout her career. During her time a GEHA she was part of their DE&I Counsel and the Chair of GEHA’s first LatinX ERG – Unidos.

Gabbi was always brimming with new ideas—each one more creative and exciting than the last. Whether it was a new artistic project, a handmade gift, or simply a thoughtful gesture, Gabriela threw herself wholeheartedly into everything she did. Her hands were rarely still, always creating something beautiful or helping those she loved. She was endlessly curious and had a particular affection for art and antiques—there wasn’t a vintage treasure she couldn’t appreciate or envision a new life for. Her home and heart were filled with character, color, and warmth.

Gabriela’s love for her family was immense and unwavering. She was a constant companion to her mom, ensuring she was always cared for. To her siblings, she served as a trusted confidante and an unfailing source of support. She treasured her role as an aunt (Tia), and to her nieces and nephews, she was a constant source of love, acceptance, and fun. Her girls, Penelope and Goldie, were also among the greatest joys in her life, furry loyal companions who shared in her everyday adventures.

Gabriela brightened every life she touched, not just those of her family. She was bold, charismatic, and loving. To know Gabriela was to experience genuine kindness and an unstoppable spirit. Gabriela was truly liked by everyone who met her. Her presence was a gift, and her absence is a profound loss.

She is survived by their mother, Ana Maria Castaneda, siblings, Ana Maria (John) Dean, Victor (Kelley) Castaneda and her nieces and nephews, Sabrina, Isaac, Lincoln, and Reese.

Services will be held privately.

Gabriela asistió a la escuela secundaria Bishop Miege y se graduó de la Universidad de Rockhurst en 2009 con una licenciatura en Comunicación. Era infinitamente curiosa y tenía una afección especial por el arte y las antigüedades—no había tesoro vintage que no pudiera apreciar. Su hogar y su corazón estaban llenos de carácter, color y calidez.

El amor de Gabriela por su familia era inmenso e inquebrantable. Era una compañera constante para su madre. Constantemente brindaba apoyo a su madre, asegurándose de que las necesidades cotidianas estuvieran atendidas. Para sus hermanos, era una confidente de confianza y una fuente inquebrantable de apoyo. Atesoraba su papel como tía, y para sus sobrinas y sobrinos, era una fuente constante de amor, aceptación y diversión. Sus peritas, Penélope y Goldie, también estaban entre las mayores alegrías de su vida, compañeras leales que compartían sus aventuras cotidianas.

Gabriela alegraba cada vida que tocaba, no solo las de su familia. Era audaz, carismática y amorosa. Conocer a Gabriela era sentir su genuina bondad y espíritu imparable. Gabriela era realmente querida por todos los que la conocieron. Su presencia era un regalo, y su ausencia es una pérdida profunda.

La sobreviven su madre, Ana María Castañeda, sus hermanos, Ana María Dean (John), Víctor Castañeda (Kelley) y sus sobrinas y sobrinos, Sabrina, Isaac, Lincoln y Reese.
