Fred John Marx, 93, of Kansas City, MO passed away Friday October 11, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Tuesday, October 15 at Guardian Angels Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 pm Monday, October 14 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel where the rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Benedictine Sisters, Atchison, Kansas or Guardian Angels Church Kansas City, Missouri.
Fred was born August 25, 1920 in Kansas City, MO to George and Grace Marx who, along with his 4 brothers and 7 sisters, Louise Bender, Theresa Gracheck, Grace Magerl, George Marx, Frank Marx, Ann Aberer, Frances Aberer, Joseph Marx, Margaret Hauber and Robert Marx preceded him in death.
He was married to Mary Kathryn Noone on May 6, 1950. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. Fred worked for McGrath Dental Supplies for over 50 years. He was a well loved and active parishioner of Guardian Angels Church for over 90 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, Overland Trailblazers and he volunteered at the Liberty Memorial World War I Museum.
Fred’s survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary K of the home; children, Barbara Webber and husband, Russ, Tom Marx, Janice McCunniff and husband, Michael, Greg Marx and wife Tammy. The pride and joys of Grandpa’s life, the grandchildren: Matt Webber and wife, Katie, Eric Webber, Nick Webber and wife, Megan, Ian Murphy, Mary Kate Hamilton and husband, Jim, David McCunniff and wife, Ashley, Erin McCunniff, Kelly McCunniff, Jessica Marx, Amy Marx and Courtney Marx. And the little ones who always made him smile, his great grandchildren: Hallie, Madison and Jack Webber, Abigail and Lincoln McCunniff.
His memory as a husband, father, grandfather, relative and friend will live in our hearts forever. He was a wonderful man!
