Fred was born on October 9, 1953 in Kansas City, MO to Ayers Jr and Bette (Lightcap) Blocher. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Journalism and spent 38 years as a photojournalist for the Kansas City Star. He married the love of his life, Rena Casey in 1976 and together they created a beautiful family; daughters Laura, Erin, Becky, Amy, and Julie and (finally!) son, Bobby.
Fred was an Eagle Scout, cooked award-winning chili, and received many awards for his photography throughout the years.
Fred’s memory is carried on by his wife, Rena, daughter Laura and her husband Kyle, daughter Becky and her husband Jason, daughter Amy, daughter Julie and her husband Brandon, son Bobby and his wife Mikaela (Hansen), brother Ayers III and his wife, Kari, grandchildren Nick, Macklin, Jay, Cameron, Emma, Teddy, Brady, Lucas, Oliver, Essie, Maryn, Calvin, and many cousins, sisters/brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Erin, his father, Ayers Jr, and mother, Bette.
Services will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home at 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. Visitation will be Friday, February 16 from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral and burial will be held Saturday, February 17, beginning at 11am with burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
